Transfer Credit

Our international admission counselors review all international academic records for transfer credit. Once a student has been admitted and has confirmed enrollment, our expert counselors evaluate international course work and appropriately transfer all transferable credit to UW–Madison. Admitted international students requesting transfer credits must submit detailed course descriptions in the original language and English when submitting the Enrollment Confirmation Form.

Credit is awarded for college-level course work completed at institutions accredited by a regional or national accrediting organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). (Foreign institutions must be recognized by the Ministry of Education in that country.) Courses must be similar in nature, level, and content to a course in our undergraduate curriculum and applicable to one of our academic programs. Continuing education courses, graduate-level courses, and courses that are remedial, technical, vocational, or doctrinal in nature are not transferable.

Please note that English language courses are not transferable to UW–Madison, as they are not offered at university-level in the United States.

Please be sure to read the Transfer Credit section of our Web site for more information on transfer credit policies.
