Students who previously attended the University of Wisconsin–Madison, but have not been enrolled in courses for a semester or more, are considered reentry students. If you are interested in returning to UW–Madison as an undergraduate student, please complete our reentry application process.
A primary admission consideration for reentry students is your academic record while previously enrolled at UW–Madison. If you were previously dropped, suspended, or on academic probation, you may need your dean’s permission for reentry. We will also review transcripts from the colleges or universities you attended during your time away, if applicable.
We use rolling admissions, reviewing complete applications in the order received. Our review of reentry applications begins no earlier than February for the fall and summer terms and October for the spring term. Decisions are generally made in four to six weeks.
To guarantee an early enrollment appointment, we must receive your complete application (including transcripts) by the following deadlines:
Please note you should apply no more than one year prior to your desired term of readmission.
International students: Please note you will also need to submit the Financial Verification Form (PDF, 449K) and bank letter. For complete details, visit the international admissions Web site.
If you participate in a semester-long study abroad program sponsored by a university other than UW–Madison, you will need to apply for readmission to Wisconsin. If you are participating in a summer or winterim program, you do not need to apply for reentry. Visit our Study Abroad Readmission Web site for complete details.
