UW–Madison students participating in a semester-long study abroad program sponsored by a university other than UW–Madison must apply for reentry admission to Wisconsin. (If you are participating in a summer or winterim program, you do not need to apply for reentry admission.)
You can apply online or download a paper application (PDF, 365K). You do not need to pay the $44 application fee nor resubmit standardized test scores.
Study abroad reentry students do not need to complete the application questions relating to high school courses in progress, ACT/SAT scores, and employment and activities. You also do not need to complete the high school counselor information/form nor either of the statements.
However, please be sure to list your study abroad institution (name, location, dates) and study abroad course work in the appropriate section of the application.
If you plan to study abroad in a program that is not sponsored by UW–Madison, you may wish to request preliminary course equivalencies via our optional Study Abroad Course Equivalency service.
