Parking

Parking on campus is limited to permits, hourly paid parking ramps, and a few short-term meters. View our online Visitor Parking Map for details on locations, meter limits, rates, and more.

Parking for Admission Information Sessions and Tours

We suggest you park in one of the following two parking ramps. Both are located just a few blocks from the Armory & Gymnasium, where you will check in for your information session and tour. Please allow at least 20 minutes to park and make your way to the Armory & Gymnasium.

  • City of Madison State Street Campus Ramp
    • 415 N. Lake Street
    • $1.25 per hour
    • Cashier or pay station (accept Visa, MasterCard, and cash)
  • UW Parking Lot 46 Ramp
    • Corner of Johnson and Lake Streets
    • $1 per hour
    • Metered parking available for up to eight hours

While there are a few metered parking spots near the Armory & Gymnasium and on area streets, most have a two-hour parking limit. Because the admission information session and tour lasts for three hours, this two-hour parking limit is not sufficient.

Please also be aware of special events on campus as they may impact parking availability and travel times.

A limited number of full and half-day parking permits for select campus ramps are available for purchase. The cost for half-day parking permits is $6 and $10 for full-day parking permits. For more information, contact UW Transportation Services at 608–262–8683.
