Information Session and Campus Tour

Our admissions information sessions cover the application process, life as a student, information about financing your education, and what our graduates are doing in the world. Admissions counselors lead these sessions Monday through Friday, followed by a campus walking tour led by an undergraduate student. Sign up online. Housing tours are not offered as part of the Campus Tour. We welcome students to research each of the University Residence Halls on the housing website for specific information about each hall and to view photos.

Weekend Walking Tours

If you plan to visit over a weekend, there are student-guided campus walking tours that leave from Union South on Saturdays and Sundays, except for home football Saturdays and holidays. A self-guided tour is also available from the Campus and Community Information Desk located at Union South. Sign up online.

Group Visits

Visitor & Information Programs can coordinate the logistics and provide experienced tour guides for school groups, K-12 field trips, conference participants, alumni groups, foreign delegations, civic groups, and many others.

Prospective Freshmen Students

We no longer schedule individual appointments for prospective freshmen to meet one-on-one with an admissions counselor. Instead, we encourage students to visit campus for a counselor-led information session and to go on a tour conducted by an undergraduate student.

Counselors can also assist students with questions at the Union South welcome desk or in the Office of Admissions and Recruitment lobby.

Prospective Transfer Students

ONE-ON-ONE APPOINTMENTS
Schedule a one-on-one appointment with one of our transfer admission counselors to discuss the admissions process and transfer credit. Sign up for the information session or campus tour online, but call 608-262-3318 or email visitbucky@admissions.wisc.edu to schedule a one-on-one appointment.

You may also schedule an appointment with the Transfer Transition Program to receive academic advising before, or during, the admissions application process.

TRANSFER STUDENT VISIT DAYS
Prospective and admitted transfer students are encouraged to participate in our Transfer Student Visit Day program which takes place on select Fridays during the academic year. These events begin with an admission information session to discuss the university, specific information about applying as a transfer student, transfer credits, and our degree requirements. Choose to stay for an academic information session or campus walking tour. Sign up online to attend.

TRANSFER INFORMATION SESSIONS
If a full-day campus visit is not an option, we encourage prospective transfer students to register for a Transfer Information Session. Similar to the admission information session offered during Transfer Student Visit Days, this stand-alone session will also answer all your questions about transfer admission, housing options, costs, and financial aid procedures.

Class Visits

Available from September to April, class visits are open to both prospective students and admitted students. The courses differ each semester but generally range from fields of study including: business, communications, engineering, liberal arts, music, science, sociology and theater. There is not a registration process for these classroom visits—just find a time that works for you, go to the class, and introduce yourself to the professor. Please keep in mind that the course schedule is subject to change and that exams will occur throughout the semester. Our professors also ask that you stay for the entire duration of the class period and that you turn off your cell phones and other electronic devices during the lecture.

Academic Information Sessions

Our undergraduate colleges, schools, and programs offer sessions that provide an overview of their academic programs. Each varies and most student choose to also attend an admissions information session. Here are the academic program visit options:
