Volunteer Duties and Responsibilities

Alumni Admissions Volunteer

This position is an alumni volunteer position within the Office of Admissions and Recruitment and supports the Office of Admissions and Recruitment efforts to recruit and enroll a diverse and competitive class of students to UW-Madison.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Know expectations of volunteer role, university and Office of Admissions and Recruitment
  • Be knowledgeable about the UW–Madison experience, undergraduate admissions and our admissions cycle
  • Provide feedback to the Office of Admissions and Recruitment on the volunteer experience and needs
  • Actively participate in volunteer opportunities
  • Engage in training opportunities throughout the year
  • Complete volunteer wrap up items including log volunteer hours and promptly return any items belonging to the Office of Admissions and Recruitment
  • Conduct self in a professional manner as a representative of the University of Wisconsin–Madison
  • Abide by NACAC Statement of Principles of Good Practice, in particular:
    • accurately represent and promote UW–Madison
    • refrain from disparaging comparisons of other secondary or post-secondary institutions
    • not accept of offer reward or remuneration from secondary school, college, university, agency, or organization for placement or recruitment of students in the United States
  • Renew commitment annually


  • Required: is not a private educational consultant or agent for current and/or prospective applicants
  • Required: is a graduate of UW–Madison
  • Effective communicator
  • Enthusiasm for supporting UW–Madison

Time Commitment: 4-6 hrs/month (increase in hours during fall and spring)
