Badger Athletics

Whether you're competing or cheering from the stands, you will quickly find that every year is a good year to be a Badger! Watch your favorite teams compete at Camp Randall Stadium, the Field House, the Kohl Center, and the Porter Boathouse. Game days add an energy to campus and downtown, as students and the community come out to support our athletics. Last year, over 1.3 million Badger fans watched their favorite teams play.

Fitness on Campus

Your student ID card gets you free access to our indoor recreational facilities, two swimming pools, and 63 acres of outdoor recreational fields. You can choose from more than 100 group fitness classes per week, become a member of one of over 40 sport clubs, or participate in 25 different intramural sports throughout the year.

The Natatorium (NAT) is on the west side of campus along Lake Mendota and features a racing pool, diving well, and the outdoor Perrier Paracourse Fitness Circuit.

Camp Randall Memorial Sports Center (Shell) is right next to Camp Randall Stadium and is open to the campus community and Madison residents. It features exercise equipment, a 200-meter indoor running track, and an indoor ice rink.

The Southeast Recreational Facility (SERF) is located on the southeast side of campus and is our most popular facility. The SERF is currently undergoing a state-of-the-art renovation that will offer five levels of activity space, over 30,000 square feet of cardio and strength fitness space, eight full-size courts for multiple uses, and much more.

Sport Clubs and Intramurals

Sport clubs are student-run organizations that practice and compete at the local, regional, national, and international level. With over 40 sport clubs to choose from, you’ll have the opportunity to compete in a sport you love or learn a sport that’s completely new. All clubs practice regularly in order to promote and develop the skills and interests of their members, so be prepared for the additional time commitment.

Intramurals are the perfect way to meet new people in a casually competitive environment. Whether you're a first-time participant or veteran athlete, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved and stay active. Over 25 sports and activities are offered throughout the year, and teams compete among other UW-Madison students and faculty from all over campus.
